Position Summary: This position will be responsible for coordinating assessment, intervention and all programs related to addressing personal contributors and challenges to academic success and retention. In this position, the SSC provides development and implementation of the student retention engagement survey. This position also collaborates extensively with campus partners to assist in providing specialized support in assisting to address the challenges to success and retention of students. The SSC also develops and manages the Student Success Coaching program. This position also oversees the Career Exploration program. As a counselor at the Counseling Center, this position is also responsible for providing extensive clinical interventions to the campus. This includes individual/group/couples therapy, outreach, training, assessment, program coordination, crisis intervention/prevention, adjunctive therapies and assistance with the overall functioning of the Counseling Center.

35 % A. Coordination of the development, implementation and oversight of campus wide assessment of student success/retention personal challenges and strengths and collaboration with campus entities for support of student retention.

A1.  Continued development and implementation of  the  assessment that is  distributed to students that identifies areas of challenges to success and retention of students.

A2.  Work with campus entities to distribute the assessment in an appropriate and timely manner.

A3.  Gather and analyze the data

A4. Extensive collaboration with campus entities to develop strategies to assist students in need/at risk through the use of the data collected.

A5. Work closely with the Center for Academic and Inclusive Excellence to assist in development of strategies to support underrepresented student personal challenges to academic success and retention.

A6.  Work closely with Residence Life to assist staff in developing supportive services based on data collected. 

B. Coordinate and implement the Academic Check Up, Career Exploration, and Student Success Coaching programs

B1.      Further develop the student success coaching program to address the needs of the general student population and specialized needs of students on our campus.

B2.       Hiring, supervision and evaluation of interns

B3.      Create and implement a program designed through best practices to provide support to students through Student Success Coaching.

B4.       Oversee and provide services for career exploration with students

60 % C. Provide counseling and wellness services, outreach, training, emergency services, supervision of interns and consultation to campus. (other duties as assigned)

C1.      Provide individual and group counseling, wellness workshops, wellness programming and consultation

C2.      Provide emergency management services including rotating on call services

C3.      Provide outreach on a wide range of topics and training for specialized groups.

C4.       Coordination of CC program as assigned

C5.       Case Management services for referrals

C6.       Supervision of interns

C7.       Consultation to students/staff/faculty/community/families/et..

C8.       Conduct assessments of programs and services

C9.       Exhibit multicultural competence in provision of

This position is a designated Campus Security Authority and is obligated under the Clery Act to notify the Dispatch Supervisor/Records Custodian at the UW Oshkosh Police Department of alleged Clery Crimes that have been reported to them or alleged Clery Crimes that they have directly witnessed.

Qualifications A minimum of a masters degree in counseling, social work, and/or related field.

A minimum of a masters degree in counseling, social work, and/or related field.

Needs to be fully licensed in the state of Wisconsin within the first year of employment.

Strong clinical knowledge and skills to be able to provide counseling/treatment to a wide array of student concerns.

Multicultural competence in a clinical, educational setting.

Ability to provide outreach/training in a professional engaging manner.

Commitment to providing best practice and innovative services to college students. An understanding and knowledge of the use of positive psychology practices.

Preferred: Previous experience in a college counseling center.
Terminal degree in psychology and/or related field.
