Position Summary: |
This is an internal search that will only consider current UW Oshkosh employees.
Working with the university community and Enrollment Management, the Director leads the strategic planning, program direction, budget oversight, and staff supervision for New Student & Family Programs across three campus locations. New Student & Family Programs provides a variety of initiatives to increase the success of new students on the three UW Oshkosh campuses, including but not limited to: Oshkosh campus, Fox Cities campus, and Fond du Lac campus orientation programs, Family Day, new student and family communication, and financial literacy programming for students.

Responsibilities |
Develop all aspects of orientation and new student programming for incoming students and select subgroups across three campus locations
Direct strategic planning initiatives and establish objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative and staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan
Develop operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and objectives
Exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
Develop and audit the budget
Serve as the liaison by collaborating with internal and external stakeholder groups and providing organizational information

Qualifications |
|
Required: |
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and social justice • Master’s degree • Experience working directly with large-scale programming for college students • Experience with budget development and management • Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills • Demonstrated ability to successfully present to a broad range of audiences including faculty, staff, students, and families • An understanding of the nature of project management and willingness to work extended hours prior to the implementation of large-scale programming. • Highly developed organizational management and problem-solving skills

Preferred: |
• Supervisory experience of professional staff and student workers • Ability to assess programs, formulate plans, and implement responses to improve administrative efficiency and enhance the participants' experiences • An established track record of successful program development and expansion, including the ability to initiate and maintain collaborative relationships and negotiate effective agreements across student service units and academic affairs departments • A clearly articulated student success philosophy related to the first-year experience for entering students based on student development theory. |
