Position Summary:

The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh School of Business seeks a dynamic individual to join our instructional team as a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor effective August 21, 2025.   

The UW Oshkosh School of Business is AACSB accredited at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to 1500 undergraduate business students, we have approximately 200 MBA students. Bounded by lakes, rivers and forests, Oshkosh is within driving distance from Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. The School of Business values and respects diversity in our classrooms, workplace, associations, and relationships. Teaching is the primary mission of UW Oshkosh.  

Teaching Assistant Professors facilitate classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction to ensure quality delivery of instruction and integration of content within the School of Business. They provide for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading and serve as an instructor of record.  

The primary teaching responsibilities will be in the area of economics  for the undergraduate program with opportunities to teach in other areas of the School of Business based on candidate qualifications and experience. Full-time Teaching Assistant Professors must maintain the professional qualifications necessary for accreditation and are expected to participate in some service activities for the school and college (e.g., advising student clubs, curriculum development, etc.).

Responsibilities
  • Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material relevant to a course of instruction;  
  • Advises students on academic and career direction within business;  
  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance;  
  • Collaborates with school of business faculty and staff to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline;  
  • Maintains scholarly or professional qualifications in accordance with School of Business standards; and  
  • Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the School of Business.  
Qualifications  
Required:
  • An M.A. or M.S. in Economics or closely related field;
  • A record of excellence in teaching OR potential for excellence in teaching in economics and/or statistics or analytics;  
  • Experience with spreadsheet software (e.g. Excel) for data analysis;   
  • Ability to communicate effectively;   
  • Record of successful collaboration with others; and  
  • Record of working successfully with minimal supervision.  
Preferred:
  • PhD in Economics or closely related field;
  • Accomplished outstanding teacher;
  • Previous experience facilitating undergraduate and graduate instruction;
  • Experience successfully facilitating online instruction;
  • Experience mentoring students or junior colleagues for professional development; and
  • Experience using Canvas or similar LMS platform.
