Reporting to the chairperson of the Social Work department within the College of Letters and Science, the teaching assistant professor designs and facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction within an academic discipline to ensure quality delivery of instruction and integration of content within an academic work unit. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record and engages in service activities at the level of a faculty member. This position will also serve as the MSW Field Coordinator. The teaching assistant professor’s load will consist of 12 credits/SCH of instruction, 12 credits/SCH for MSW Field Coordinator duties, and 6 credits/SCH of service responsibilities per academic year.

35% Instruction/Teaching/Field Supervision
Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction, including assessment of student performance. May supervise undergraduate student employees or mentor graduate assistants assigned to the department. Maintains an advising caseload of undergraduate students and regularly meets with advisees on academic and career direction within a specific field of study.
35% MSW Field Coordinator
Serve as primary point of contact for all students, field agencies, field supervisors and field instructors regarding both the MSW Foundation and Advanced Field Placements. Establishes and maintains relationships with agencies for placement sites for MSW students and manages field placement process. This position also will provide meaningful community service that is related to social services or improving human well-being. This includes, but is not limited to counseling services, grant-writing, consulting, serving on boards directors, direct service provision, leadership in community organizations (not only social service agencies), fund-raising, and program evaluation.
10% Curriculum Development
Develops and designs curriculum and instructional material in coordination with other department faculty and may take the lead on curricular changes that are shared within department and college meetings. Contributes to the strategic development of curriculum and academic content through various mediums to ensure the integrity of the educational mission of the work unit. Collaborates with department faculty to develop teaching strategies relevant to the discipline.
Active service participation at the level of a faculty member within the respective department. The teaching assistant professor will contribute to service work as an expectation of the position. Service work must extend beyond attending college and department meetings. This includes participation as a member of a standing committee for the college or department and participation at both the university and community levels. Additionally,
- Co-chair the Department of Social Work Field Committee and Community Liaison Committee.
- Responsible for authoring CSWE reaccreditation report sections related to MSW Field and co-authoring sections related to field generally; updating department by-laws with MSW field procedures, as well as the UWO MSW Field Manual; and maintaining all documentation related to field and MSW field placements for the department and its accreditation.
- Co-lead and/or co-facilitate scheduling speakers for the Ethics and Boundaries training (counts for Continuing Education Units) provided by the department to regional social service professionals in September.
- Serve as the point person for the MSW Field component of the ongoing departmental evaluation associated with Reaffirmation.
- Plan and facilitate annual orientation for field educators to guide them through supervision processes for UWO social work students.
- Identify students who require supervision beyond what a placement offers and find supervisors for them.
· PhD or other terminal degree, or a degree at least one level above the level of instruction to meet credentialing requirements in department.
· MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program.
· Three years of relevant experience in the respective discipline.
· Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching.
· Current Lecturer from Department of Social Work in the College of Letters and Science at UW Oshkosh.
· Established record of collegial collaboration that resulted in positive outcomes or impacts to multiple constituencies.
· Demonstrated experience supporting student success and retention efforts.
· Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
· At least two years of post-MSW social service practice experience.
Knowledge of or experience with curriculum development.
Knowledge of and experience advising, mentoring, and tutoring students.
Demonstrated experience supporting faculty, staff, and students across departments and all three campuses.
Experience as a Field Coordinator for Social Work placements.
