Terms of Employment: Academic staff, full-time, annual appointment. Some night and weekend work and travel required. Successful applicant must have a valid driver’s license, provide evidence of insurability and be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds. The incumbent is subject to a successful criminal background check.  Must be comfortable with public speaking and willing to travel.  
Position Summary:

As a member of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh undergraduate recruitment and enrollment team this position works to recruit, enroll, and retain a diverse group of future Titans. The counselor will manage a variety of recruitment activities by developing relationships with prospective students, families, high school staff, and community members throughout the state and region. A focus of this position will be the recruitment, enrollment, and support of African American/Black students.

Responsibilities

1. Recruit, enroll and support African American/Black students through high school visits, college fairs, on campus visit opportunities, community events, email, social media, and web-based resources. Develop strategies to recruit and enroll students and assess outcomes of recruitment efforts.
- Evaluates program/outreach effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
- Identifies opportunities for and develops admissions and outreach events
- Schedules logistics and secures resources for events to promote the Institution

2. Establish, nurture, and maintain relationships with both on-campus and off-campus constituents that will benefit African American/Black students and enhance recruitment efforts in this community. Develop a network of resources and support for students.
- Creates targeted communication plans and materials based on established goals
- Delivers directed admissions program messaging to internal and external audiences

3. Serve as a University representative for high school visits and fairs, college nights, virtual events, and other community programs. Frequent travel is expected September through November, and occasionally at other times of the year, including night and some weekend travel throughout Wisconsin and at times parts of Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota.
- Engages in extensive outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students
- Identifies, promotes, and maintains internal and external partnerships focusing on outreach, recruitment,
and admission

4. Conduct group information sessions and meet with campus visitors providing an overview of the university and the admissions process. In addition to meeting with students during the week, the counselor is expected to share in a Saturday rotation schedule September through May.
- Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities
- Reviews, evaluates, and responds to student applications according to established policies and procedures

5. Contribute to the development and execution of admissions events, programs, and activities. Assist with other projects and office responsibilities as necessary, based on skill set and office needs.
- May supervise and/or lead a program area

Qualifications  
Required: 1. Bachelor’s degree
2. Commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
3. Strong cross-cultural interpersonal skills
4. Excellent public speaking, written and verbal communication skills
5. Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as among units and organizations
6. Valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain one for necessary travel associated with the position
Preferred: 1. Experience working in admissions or other related student services area at the post-secondary level
2. Experience working with multicultural students
