Position Summary:

Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in landscaping, gardening, grounds keeping, and tree pruning activities to ensure completion of grounds work assignments. May assist in planning & implementing landscaping projects.

Responsibilities

Directs day to day operational activities of various lawn & landscape projects

Monitors staff & assists with basic training

Assists with organizing layout of planting sites, plants & material, researches & evaluates new material & equipment

Installs & maintains the health of new & existing plants, turf, & trees in the landscape using a variety of equipment

Properly identifies & remedies plant & insect damage

Maintains cleanliness of entire campus

Perform snow removal duties with focus on quality, safety, & efficient execution

 

Qualifications  
Required:

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Ability to perform manual labor including; lifting, bending, stopping, twisting & other motions for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation

Work experience operating equipment (Mowers, tractors, variety of vehicles, varying small engine equipment, & snow removal equipment)

Hands on experience planting & maintaining woody & herbaceous plants

Experience with snow removal efforts

High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge of safety considerations / precautions & occupational hazards related to grounds maintenance & equipment operation 

Preferred:

Experience maintaining natural & artificial turf

Experience delegating individual responsibilities and projects to crew members 

Technical degree in horticulture or related field
