The Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for an assistant professor position beginning September 2024, contributing primarily to the Oshkosh campus, with the possibility of contributing to both campuses. This tenure-track faculty position will involve teaching courses in Introductory Biology, Human Physiology, Animal Physiology and an upper-level physiology elective in the candidate’s area of expertise. Our teaching expectations include the ability to teach in multiple modalities such as online (synchronous or asynchronous) and hybrid courses, due to the changing needs of our students. The successful candidate will pursue an active research program, perform campus and community service, and service to the profession, as well as be given the opportunity to participate in department and campus governance.

• PhD in Biology or closely related field. ABD candidates will be considered, provided the PhD is conferred by the start of the appointment.

• Background or experience necessary to teach lecture, discussion, and lab courses in: Introductory Biology, Human Physiology, Comparative/Animal Physiology to undergraduate and graduate students.

• Research experience with potential to establish a successful research program involving undergraduate and graduate students.

• Record of securing or attempting to secure intra- and/or extra-mural research funding.

• Teaching experience as the lead instructor at the university level, especially involving teaching and engaging diverse student populations of undergraduate and graduate students.

• At least one year of post-doctoral or equivalent research experience.

• Experience mentoring and/or advising undergraduate and graduate students.

• Evidence of ability to design and develop new courses using a variety of teaching modalities and pedagogies.

• Ability to teach anatomy.
