Compensation: $15.00/hour

Oshkosh Department Shift: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Position Summary: Maintains and landscapes lawns, planting beds, and fields. Inspects grounds to ensure conditions meet institutional grounds keeping stndards.

Must pass a pre-work screen to ensure the ability to perform essential physical functions of the position. Must have a valid WI driver's license and be authorized to drive a university vehicle upon appointment. This position will require a criminal background investigation.

Responsibilities: 

Installs, propagates, and maintains the health of new and existing plants and landscape using a variety of vehicles and equipment. 

Constructs lawn and landscaping projects including soil grading, seeding, and sodding.

Identifies and acts to remedy plant diseases and insect damage.

Implements and monitors chemical and fertilizer programs.

Required:

Ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, twisting and other motions for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation.

High school diploma or equivalent.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred:

Work experience operating grounds equipment (riding mowers, tractors, small engine equipment and snow plowing equipment).

Hands on experience maintaining woody and herbaceous plants.  

Work experience regarding snow and ice control methods, materials, equipment.                                                                      

Safety considerations / precautions and occupational hazards related to grounds maintenance and equipment operation. 

Ability to work independently and as a member of the Grounds crew team responsible for University grounds care and maintenance. 

Employees are expected to be flexible in the performance of their job functions and to communicate openly with supervisors and co-workers, other departments and University staff.
