Responsibilities |
This position operates under the general supervision of the Bursar and primarily reviews, approves, and advises on a variety of advanced financial transactions. May prepare some financial transactions and reconcile transactions. Troubleshoots advanced financial errors, recommends controls and process improvements. Maintains financial records, provides administrative processing support, and provides customer service for all stakeholders.
Responsible for completing cash, check, credit card, and other electronic payment transactions while maintaining daily transaction record that will balance to system at end of day. Provides friendly, helpful customer service to customers at the Cashier window as well as via email and telephone.
- Audits, monitors, organizes, and updates fiscal records, reports, and affiliated materials
- Creates general reporting for transactions
- Audits or processes advanced transactions and assigns funding codes in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies
- Audits or reconciles original purchase documents with payments
- Drafts communications and advanced reports and maintains organization of varied records to provide administrative support within a specified work unit
- Reallocates expenses to appropriate funding strings
- Answers advanced fiscal questions and provides information based on set materials and standards to various stakeholders
- Reviews transaction processing internal controls and recommends policies and procedures.
The successful candidate will have strong oral, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills, demonstrated integrity and strong leadership, and the willingness to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Position is a full-time University Staff appointment. The work hours for this position will be 7:45 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, in-person on the UW Oshkosh campus. |
Required: |
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Working knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping concepts and math skills
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in cash handling, proofreading and data entry
- Computer proficiency with the ability to use specialized software packages, spreadsheets, word processing, and money management products (i.e. PeopleSoft, MS Excel, MS Word) and the internet
- Knowledge of report writing tools and report writing
- Knowledge in analysis, calculation and verification process for accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent judgement including sensitivity to personal and confidential information
- Ability to prioritize work
- Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness, with the ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Associate Degree or equivalent in Accounting or related field
