Position Summary: |
Provides general leadership to student life. Assists in defining, interpreting and implementing goals and objectives for the dean of students office.
- Assists in the development and implementation of operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and division objectives
- Assists in advising institutional and divisional leadership on policy and procedures
- Serves as the unit liaison among internal and external stakeholder groups and representing the interests of the division, in the absence of the Dean and/or Associate Dean
- Assists in the evaluation of unit program and service effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
- Serves as a resource to the campus community regarding student issues and resolutions
- Participates in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and ombuds services

Responsibilities |
Provide support for the Dean of Students Office in the area of student conduct.
- A comprehensive understanding of campus policies and codes of conduct (UWS Chapters 14, 17, and 18).
- Investigate and adjudicate student conduct cases in a fair and consistent manner, encouraging student development and respectful issue resolution.
- Understand the responsibilities of implementing, monitoring, and enforcing campus policies and codes of conduct, including UWS Chapters 14, 17, and 18. • Maintain all correspondences and records concerning conduct cases.
- Serve as a resource for staff, faculty, and students regarding the implementation of campus policies and codes of conduct.
- Monitor student compliance with sanctions and conditions mandated as a results of misconduct findings.
- Assist with training and oversight of the student misconduct hearing board.
Provide administrative support to the Dean of Students Office.
- Serve as a resource to staff, faculty, employees, community members, students and parents (current and potential) regarding policies and procedures of the Dean of Students Office, while adhering to all mandated standards of privacy.
- Facilitate effective written and oral communication with persons and organizations interacting with the office and maintain records of communication.
- Assist in maintaining campus crime statistics and reports, as required by state and federal law required by the Office of Postsecondary Education of the U.S. Department of Education.
- Assist in maintaining campus statistics for the University of Wisconsin System reports.
Provide programming, advocacy, and support.
- Advocate on behalf of students when they have been treated arbitrarily or capriciously within the university organization.
- Provide education to students, faculty, and staff on UWS Chapters 14, 17, and 18.
- Provide education to students, faculty, and staff about the Behavioral Intervention Team.
