Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academics & Student Success, the teaching/learning technology specialist assists faculty, staff and students with technology in the College of Nursing. This includes working with a variety of technology in the classroom, simulation center and virtual space, including high fidelity simulators, educational electronic health records or telehealth technology, virtual reality, and various other technologies.

Typical hours: Mon - Fri 7:30am - 4:30pm with occasional evening or weekend hours.

Technology Support – 95%

  • Assists with the design and development of engaging, effective learning experiences which may be face-to-face, blended, and/or online
  • Completes initial edits, reviews, and updates of existing instructional materials
  • Contributes to researching, designing, and/or acquiring learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
  • Assists with providing basic training and technical support to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
  • Provides consultation, training, and/or support for learning technology tools and platforms
  • Analyzes, tests, troubleshoots, resolves issues, and provides feedback regarding learning technologies
  • Provides support for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and disseminating data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness
  • Provides support for faculty development and engagement programs and activities
  • Assists faculty, students and staff with teaching and learning technology needs
  • Maintains technology in the simulation and virtual teaching and learning environment
  • Answers routine to moderately complex questions and provides information, creates documentation, and trains end users regarding hardware, software, applications, and technology access
  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware, configurations, multimedia, and software applications for various learning environments and operational needs
  • Researches and evaluates potential technology purchases and makes recommendations to leadership according to work unit business needs and requests
  • Collaborates with UWO IT department

Other - 5%

  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's Degree 
  • Experience working with technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, computer hardware/software, and/or virtual reality software
  • Excellent Oral/Written Communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Word Processing, Microsoft Suite, and other related software applications
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Education/Experience in Information Technology
  • Experience working in higher education academic settings
  • Enthusiasm for working with students, faculty, and staff
  • Passionate about learning and adopting state-of-the-art technology and information systems, such as those involving artificial intelligence
