Position Summary:

Internal Search Language: This is an internal search that will only consider current UW System employees.

Manages a comprehensive recreation program. Oversees and performs activities including policy development and enforcement, program development and expansion, participant eligibility, and/or risk management. May supervise staff.

Provide supervision and management for the operations of all Student Recreation Facilities; the Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be the primary focus: 

  • Develop and update policies and training procedures.
  • Assist with development, implementation and edits of all emergency response plans and drills.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of student Operation Attendants, student Operation Managers, and student Program Assistants. 
  • Assist with HRS payroll system. 
  • Manage member services. 
  • Assist with Fusion and website administrative support. 
  • Administer other facility operations as needed, including laundry, rental equipment, supplies, and more. 
  • Establish highly functional relationships with Student Recreation program staff, Facilities Management, and other necessary stakeholders. 

Provide administrative support for Sport Club programs: 

  • Work closely with the Competitive Sports Coordinator to implement all systems and processes pertaining to Sport Club budgets. 
  • Train, develop, and support Sport Club student leaders to meet the needs of their organization. 
  • Manage travel for sport clubs; expense reports, lodging, transportation, etc. 
  • Coordinate all purchasing for Sport Clubs.

Departmental Support Additional Areas 

  • Based on experience and interests, support departmental mission through one or more of the following areas: Social Media; Graphic Design; Risk Management; Student Leadership, Development and Recognition; Assessment. 
  • Other duties/tasks as assigned based on departmental need and professional development. 
  • A bachelor’s degree 
  • Experience working in recreation programs or facilities 
  • CPR/AED Certification or ability to obtain within 2 months of hire 
  • Strong skills in communication, customer service, attention to detail, collaboration and team orientation 
  • Strong commitment to student development 
  • Ability to identify solutions to work related challenges (includes developing and maintaining harmonious relationships in the work unit and within the university) 
  • Ability to work within unit, campus, system, state, and federal policy 
  • Demonstrated commitment to the ideals of Inclusive Excellence and those students who are traditionally underrepresented 
  • An advanced degree 
  • Experience in a recreation programs or facility management in higher education 
  • Experience managing student staff in recreation-based program/service areas 
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, PeopleSoft Student Information System, WISER financial database, HRS payroll system, Innosoft Fusion
