The College of Letters and Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh seeks applications for a tenure track assistant professor of Hmong Studies, discipline and tenure-home open, contributing primarily to the Oshkosh campus but with the expectation of contribution to all campuses and course delivery modes (in-person, online [synchronous/asynchronous], and hybrid). We invite qualified candidates to join our growing Hmong Studies Program.
Hmong Studies at UWO is a critical race and ethnic studies program that is interdisciplinary in its examination of the historical, political, and socio-cultural experiences of the Hmong in the U.S. and globally. We seek candidates with content and research expertise in some of the following areas: critical refugee studies, transnationalism, colonialism and US imperialism, intersectionality, and decolonial methods. Strong preference will be given to applicants who engages in critical Hmong Studies in the areas of history and/education.
Responsibilities include teaching and developing courses for the Hmong Studies Certificate, pursuing an active research agenda, advising/mentoring students, and service to the Hmong Studies Program and UWO.
