Position Summary:

The Criminal Justice program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2025. While research specialization is open, candidates with a particular interest and ability to teach courses in at least two of the following areas are required: “criminal law” or “crime scene documentation and forensics” or “juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice.” A demonstrated ability to teach courses both on-campus and online (asynchronous) is desirable. Criminal Justice offers both an on-campus and online major. Additionally, the ability to teach courses involving historically marginalized members of society in relation to criminal justice, as well as develop and teach upper-division courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, is desired.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting research and performing service.

Qualifications  
Required:
  • Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field by the start date.
  • Background or experience necessary to teach lower-division and upper-division undergraduate courses in “criminal law” or “crime scene documentation and forensics” or “juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice."

  • Established record of publication in scholarly journals related to their specialization or demonstrated potential to establish a successful record of scholarly publications in the area of criminology or criminal justice.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred:
  • Previous teaching experience in the “adjudication process, criminal law, criminal court” or “crime scene documentation and forensics,” or “juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice”.
  • Mentoring and/or advising experience at the college or university level.

  • Research experience with the potential to establish a successful research program involving undergraduate students.
