Develops and supervises the execution of communication programs and may supervise personnel and/or other resources in support of institutional or unit communication goals.

Responsibilities

25% Planning and implementation of marketing campaigns, presentations, publications, web design, social media, and promotional efforts. 

  • Responsible for department promotion and marketing efforts, as well as web content development and maintenance, for Reeve Union/University Dining.  This includes development and implementation of an overall vision for the on-going promotions and publications, and development of an image that is consistent with University standards.   

  • Coordinates messaging for the department, prepares and coordinates presentations, displays and messaging, and other campus presentations.   

  • Coordinates purchasing of promotional/printed items for the department. 

  • Maintains, monitors and establishes social media outlets for Reeve Union, as well as other interdepartmental social media.  

  • Consults in partnership with contracted campus food service, campus vending, and other contractors in their efforts to promote their services within the scope of Reeve Union/University Dining responsibilities on campus.  

  • Maintains a collaborative and proactive working environment between the department and its contractors.  

  • Develops a collaborative working relationship with University Marketing (UMC) to assist in promoting Reeve Union events.  

25% Oversight of Copy This!! 

  • Supervises retail operations of print shop in Reeve Union including student managers and staff 

  • Develops and manages policies, processes and procedures 

  • Sets annual prices and prepares quotes for special projects 

  • Oversees campus chargeback/billing processes for departmental/on-campus projects 

  • Prepares and monitors area budget 

  • Works with vendors to procure and maintain equipment and inventory; handles purchase orders and payment of invoices 

  • Coordinates marketing efforts to promote CopyThis!! services 

20% Coordination and oversight of assessment, market research, surveys, and other research. 

  • Use a variety of methods to assess the effectiveness of Reeve programs/services and to complete market research for the department upon request, e.g., compiles focus groups, building traffic counts, customer counts, and satisfaction surveys, followed by market research analysis to determine the needs of the department.   

  • Coordinates and administers the EBI, a web-based benchmarking survey, and other assessment instruments on a regular basis.   

  • Works with colleagues to analyze and organize this information to make and distribute data driven decisions. 

20% Supervision of the Student Marketing & Design Team   

  • Supervises and manages the work of the Student Marketing and Design Team, consisting of marketing assistants, web designer, marketing coordinator, videographer, and graphic designers. 

  • Manages departmental project requests for advertising, news releases, publications, graphic design projects, web page design, electronic and new media marketing, social media, video marketing, market research, consultation on advertising campaigns, and other marketing tasks. 

  • Prepares and monitors area budget and completes any on-campus chargebacks/billing. 

10% Miscellaneous duties 

  • Incorporate and support principles of diversity and equity and inclusion 

  • Assist with major campus events and/or serve on campus committees 

  • Represent Reeve Union at various campus and community events 

  • Remain abreast of new concepts, practices, theories, trends and issues in the college union 

  • Actively participate in professional organizations as appropriate 

  • Serve as a positive team member, supporting and assisting at other Reeve Union events and activities as needed 

  • Miscellaneous duties related to Reeve Union/University Dining 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the AVC for Campus Life 

Successful candidates who are invited to campus for on-campus interviews will be expected to provide a professional portfolio (physical or electronic) with examples of past work in marketing campaigns, web design, or graphic design. 

   
Required:
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion 

  • Supervisory experience managing the work of others, or advising staff or students 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 

  • Excellent customer service skills 

  • Experience with management, and/or promotion of events and celebrations 

  • Experience with social media management and content creation 

  • General knowledge of web and graphic design 

  • Working knowledge of Adobe software including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.   

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, communications, higher education administration or related field  

  • Demonstrated work in a team focused environment, particularly in the area of Graphic Design, Marketing or a related field 

  • Demonstrated understanding of college students and the college environment, which may include new approaches to marketing, utilizing technology, web-based media, and social media 

  • Knowledge and ongoing engagement with diversity – in people, projects, or communities. 

  • Experience working with print media and/or within a print production area 

  • Demonstrated experience with outreach to the community, collaborative efforts, and relationship-building skills 

  • Extensive demonstrated experience with Adobe software 

  • Experience with research, design/development, implementation, and analysis of a variety of market research projects, marketing plans and assessments 

  • Experience with budget development and financial management
