Position Summary: The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) Department of Professional Counseling invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in school counseling at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will have a leadership role as Coordinator of the School Counseling program within the larger Professional Counseling program.
Responsibilities Job responsibilities include coordinating the school counseling program, teaching school counseling and core courses; advising graduate students; supervising practicum and internship students; engaging in research/scholarly activity; providing leadership within the school counseling program; facilitating connection in the community through service learning; and contributing creatively and compassionately to the program, department, college, university, and state through service and outreach.
Required: • Earned Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision or related field from a CACREP-accredited program (ABD will be considered if degree is conferred by August 2020)
• Relevant counseling experience in K-12 settings
• Familiar with and is trained in the ASCA national model
Preferred: • Previous school counseling experience in K-12 public schools
• Evidence of teaching effectiveness
• Experience providing clinical supervision in an academic setting
• Administrative experience and program development skills
• Interest in program development and program coordination
• Membership and involvement in professional organizations such as ACA, ASCA, ACES and/or state counseling organizations
• Active research agenda in the area of school counseling and/or counselor education and supervision
• Strong scholarly record, including publishing in peer reviewed journals, book chapters, and presentations
• Knowledge of CACREP accreditation process
• Experience advising graduate students
• Commitment to cultural diversity and social justice
