Position Summary: The Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The person selected for this position will teach undergraduate courses in our teacher education programs on campus. They may also teach graduate courses in our online MSE program. In addition, this person is expected to maintain an active program of scholarly research and publication and provide service to the department, college, university, PK-8 community, and the profession. This position is a 9-month academic year appointment with a teaching load of 12 credits per semester.
Responsibilities The primary responsibility for this position will be in developing and teaching undergraduate courses focused on best practices in pedagogy. For this reason, a minimum of 3 years of experience in classroom teaching (PK-8) required. Our ideal candidate will have an interest in teacher preparation, dispositions, beliefs, and professional development. In addition, there is a preference for expertise and/or research agenda in elementary and middle school education, although other areas may also be considered. Additional teaching responsibilities may involve developing and teaching courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.
Required: Earned doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or a closely related field preferably completed by June 1, 2022 but required to be completed no later than August 15, 2022.

At least three years of full-time teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level. This must be full-time teaching as the instructor of record at the elementary or middle school level.

Interest and ability in teaching education courses in our elementary and middle school program.

Experience or interest in supervising clinical and/or student teaching candidates.

Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred: Experience with teaching and scholarly research with a focus on upper Elementary and Middle School Education

Experience teaching or working with diverse populations of students in PK-8 and/or higher education settings.

Ability to teach education courses in our secondary program.

Experience teaching at the university level.

Knowledge of assessments specific to PK-8 settings, such as state mandated assessments and standardized testing.

Experience with leadership and/or collaboration in a U.S. Elementary and Middle School Education setting such as participation in PLCs, teacher training, professional development, or curriculum design.

Involvement in research grant writing.

Evidence of service commitments to the department, college, university, PK-12 community or profession.
