Position Summary:

The Fond du Lac Student Life Coordinator reports to the Reeve Union Associate Director for Student Involvement and has specialized responsibilities for the overall administration of student programs (clubs and organizations), student government/leadership and its related activities on the Fond du Lac campus. The Student Life Coordinator is the campus expert and resource for student clubs and organizations, their administration, and their budgets. Although specialized in Student Life/Activities, as a strategic member of the Fond du Lac campus, the Student Life Coordinator is crossed-trained to have general knowledge of various other student services and how to help students access them. 

This is a fixed-term renewable academic staff position appointed at a full-time equivalence (FTE) of .50. The regular hours for this position will be assigned within standard business hours, 8:00 am-4:30 pm Monday thru Friday. Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.

  1. 30% Student Programs
    1. Advise Student Activities Committee (SAC).
      1. Work with the Student Activities Committee to develop and implement an effective campus wide approach to programming and activities for approximately 500 students.  This includes but is not limited to planning retreats, conducting leadership team/executive board evaluations, planning and implementing programming workshops, budget development and management, program selection, implementation, evaluation, contracting, marketing and promotion.
      2. Provide academic, leadership, and social advisement to individual executive board and committee members through 1:1 and small group meetings.  Help students identify skills that they have gained which may combine with their academic experience to make them more marketable as potential employees in the future.
      3. Assist in the recruitment of student leaders that may gain an added benefit to their classroom experiences by participating in SAC.
    2. Student Life Programming
      1. Develop a comprehensive and diverse student development and activity plan to provide a means of success for new and currently enrolled students.
      2. Coordinate the planning, scheduling and contracting of student funded activities, including room requests, catering, etc.
      3. Complete contracts and commitments to talent agencies, distributors and vendors.
      4. Develop and execute campus-wide programming traditions, such as the beginning and end of year campus-wide picnics.
      5. Promote and market student programs/activities to increase participation.
  2. 20% Oversee Operations of Student Organizations
    1. Actively recruit students to be involved in 5-10 campus clubs and organizations.
    2. Provide guidance to students requesting segregated fees for clubs and organizations.
    3. Provide mentoring and strategize leadership opportunities for members of student clubs and organizations.
    4. Coordinate the annual re-recognition and training processes for all student organizations.
    5. Interpret campus, university, and UW system policies to develop and enforce student rules and regulations.
  3. 25% Student Government/Leadership
    1. Advise Fond du Lac Student Government
      1. Advise Fond du Lac Student Government Executive Team, Student Senate, and all associated committees.
      2. Provide ongoing mentoring and training for student leaders as needed.
      3. Recruit students to be involved in campus leadership in efforts to maintain and/or increase retention.
      4. Provide regular Fond du Lac Student Government updates to campus administration as needed. 
      5. Promote, coordinate and implement student body elections twice annually and additionally as required.
    2. Advise SUFAC Committee
      1. Advise student leaders with the segregated fee process and maintain UW System policies related to SUFAC.
      2. Monitor and administer student segregated fee budgets.
      3. Monitor and administer student government and student activity budgets.
  4. 15%  International Leadership Institute
    1. Coordinate the implementation of the leadership programming portion of the International Student Leadership Institute on the Fond du Lac campus.
    2. Liaison with Kings Program Staff and other campus departments as needed to ensure programming is coordinated and streamlined with existing programmatic initiatives.

      E.    10% Other Duties
    1. Assist in coverage of the Fond du Lac Solution Center as needed/requested.
    2. Participate in UWS sponsored training and skill development programs.
    3. Participate in Student Leadership & Involvement staff meetings on the Oshkosh campus.
    4. Identify, address, contact and/or forward concerns to appropriate campus administrators.
    5. Participate in assigned and/or elected committee and/or governance activities.
    6. Assist staff with new student orientation and registration events.
    7. Assist with the promotion of registration for continuing students as appropriate.
    8. Provide administrative support for the annual student satisfaction survey and ongoing assessment.
    9. Collaborate with other Student Leadership & Involvement and Reeve Union colleagues on departmental initiatives.
    10. Serve as a positive team member, supporting and assisting at other campus events and activities as necessary.
    11. Attend professional conferences in the area of Student Affairs and Student Activities and keep abreast of current trends in the profession. 
    12. Represent the department on University Committees.
    13. Incorporate and support principles of diversity/inclusive excellence.
    14. Perform and provide other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Student Involvement.
  • Bachelor's degree and one year post undergraduate experience in student activities or leadership development on a college campus (or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Working knowledge of basic budget and financial management;
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and commitment to inclusivity;
  • Master's degree in higher education, college student personnel administration, counseling, leadership, or related field, earned by the end of August 2021;
  • One or more years of experience in student activities, volunteer services, or leadership development on a college campus (or equivalent experience);
  • Knowledge of student development theory;
  • Experience advising student organizations;
  • Experience overseeing student-led programs and events;
  • Experience coordinating or presenting leadership training to college students.
  • Experience in working with speakers/performers, agents, and performance contracts.
  • Experience working at a 2-year college.
