Position Summary: The Admissions Counselor - Marketing Specialist will be a member of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh undergraduate Admissions recruitment and enrollment team. The counselor will serve as a University ambassador and liaison with prospective students, parents/families, high school staff and other community members throughout the state and region. A focus of this position will be working with Admissions Office social media, marketing, print and web based media. Some night and weekend work and travel required. 

Coordinate marketing and communication for Admissions, working in collaboration with University Marketing and Communications Office as needed and required. Develop content, manage updates and provide departmental level oversight for Admissions website. Create print materials utilized for internal and external communications. Coordinate the development, utilization and maintaining of social media communications.

Hire, train and supervise marketing work team student employees. Train all student employees on social media and oversee engagement of outlets utilized. Assist with hiring and training of other student employees as needed.

Meet with prospective students and other guests in the admissions office providing a University overview as well as guiding students through the admissions process. In addition to meeting with students during the week, the counselor is expected to share in a Saturday rotation schedule September through May.

Serve as a University representative for high school visits and fairs, college nights and other college programs. Extensive travel is expected September through November, and occasionally at other times of the year, including night and some weekend travel throughout Wisconsin and possibly parts of Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.

Assist with other projects and department responsibilities as necessary, based on skill set and office needs.

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Proven skills in marketing, excellence in writing, proof-reading and customer service
  • Demonstrated understanding of and experience in professional utilization of social media applications
  • Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and provide evidence of insurability
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience working in a collegiate student services environment
  • Demonstrated professional writing abilities with a knowledge of AP style
  • Experience with graphic design and WordPress or similar web content management
  • systems
  • Experience leading, organizing and supervising student employees
  • Experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Knowledge of UW Oshkosh
